Has anyone in this group dealt with this? Can you share your symptoms and treatments that helped?

I think depersonalization is a form of protection.

Kind of a place to escape to until you’re ready to see reality.

I’m reading the power of now,

That has helped.

Doing things that keep you grounded and in the moment

Why can’t I get pics of posters to post?

Look around when you feel yourself starting to slip.

List 5 things you see.

List 4 things you hear.

List 3 things you smell.

List 2 things you feel.

List 1 thing you taste.

Say it out loud.

Or grab ice cubes and let them melt in your hands.

Put a cold rag on the back of your neck.

Count your own fingers.

Pick a set of muscles (biceps) and squeeze, release, squeeze, release until you are focused on self.

Hi Neuronerd,

When you write a new post, underneath you have a button "add photo". Sometimes you need to repeat twice in the same post because it doesn't upload.

If you are using the app, then I can't help you as I don't know how the app works...

The two replies above are similar to what I do, too jacraff ....

Anything I can do to Ground Myself into the moment really helps me when i am disassociating ... or depersonalization challenged ...

Deep Breathing is my most cherished self care work these days - as the quality of my breathing has a direct effect on how I am feeling all the time. (usually i am a very shallow breather or i stop breathing at times, too - which can add to that spaced feeling)

The deep breathing has helped me avoid panic attacks and has kept me more focused on my day to day and moment to moment ... hope that gives you more ideas + I also like the exercise that NeuronerdDoaty shared about looking around in your environment and checking in with your senses - what you see, smell, hear, etc - that one has been quite helpful for me in the past And a great reminder to me now.

take good care J and keep at it,
