Following a stroke my partner has severe very painful spasticity in his legs. Despite pain killers and antispasmodic drugs he is in terrible pain when moved ( and pretty well bed ridden as a result) I have managed to get him a referral to a special clinic in Orpington but the waiting list is so long they can’t even give me a date. I am also paying for twice weekly private physio as there is no NHS provision .It’s heartbreaking seeing his pain and it is terrible for him. Has anyone any advice or suggestions.?

Advice on Spasticity
hi it’s 11years since my stroke on this Friday and I have spasticity too it’s bad but Cbd helps me a lot hope this helps
Thanks for coming back Annabella. I’ve been wondering about CBD . Would you be able to tell me any more about where to get it from and what dosage? Also did you get GP support or not? Many thanks and glad it’s working for you.
Following a brain haemorrhage in 2010 I’ve had severe spasticity accompanied by really bad restless leg syndrome. I monitored the effects in 2017, 2020 and 2021. About 3 years ago a physiotherapist suggested I try Sativex which is not easily prescribed as its cannabis based and it was only when I managed to see a sympathetic neurologist and give her the evidence I had accumulated including the jerkiness I have constantly had to deal with that she agreed to give me a trial. I was able to show by comparing with previous years that although Sativex wasn’t a cure it did alleviate my worst symptoms and I now take it regularly. I’m not sure how helpful that would be for you and as I said it’s difficult to get a prescription but thought I would share it anyway.
sorry I didn’t realise Sativex and CBD were the same.
Thanks for the help. I have heard about Savitex and that it’s difficult to get prescribed. Chris was very bad today so I’m going back to his GP toget his existing meds increased. I’ll ask about savitex . Doctors seem frightened to prescribe it. Thank you and I’m glad it’s working for you .
ok well good luck
