Yes, can you believe it, its two years today our lives changed. We're being Warriors physically but we feel ill with this awful date.

But what I have done since my rant post in November 'Distraught, but Angry' despite still no active service in place for husband and lo and behold still no care pathway in writing; I have been wheeling/dealing and got T5 campervan and then thought F It just go for it I booked shortbreak, lol brain injury team got some work to do to help this be successful, either way been solo for two years and im sticking my fingers up to textbook professionals now, as were beating the odds and working hard to keep.

I know my husband will not be the same, still can't accept, but I'm not the same either, toughening up doesn't come near, Risk taker doesn't cut it either but somehow still going, feel deep sadness but I'm still on a mission, tell you the truth I don't think it will go for a couple more years min, or may never go.

Will keep you updated on Shortbreak x

The campervan has really helped him and us reaching towards our goal, feels like a massive milestone as we're barely managing day trips still, but got to try and I will keep trying. This shortbreak got a quiet camp site and I have booked before summer holidays, the aim after this one book again at end of summer holidays, we can't go peak seasons be a disaster. But I know its going to be hard work we're study area map more indepth nearer time and have schedule for resting times as husband is needing reassurance that all will be OK, we are nervous mind but kids so need this x

It sounds good all round I've been very lucky to come out of my accident as well as I have, but noise and being around too many people gets me,you seem to have it sussed what he needs and the kids too, bless you and enjoy as best you can the breaks, just remember when in the camper your middle name isn't Lewis ❤️

Well brain injury team stated in July were not ready for shortbreak keep sticking to day trips I say day trips but it's no more than 2-3hrs with travel included, we still spend more time travelling than staying at where we're going due to husband fatigue, behaviour and so on.

I'm not disregarding brain injury team concerns as they are right to make me think, but we need to take a leap and test., But I've been solo all this time we have got to this point with no practical support. Night placement spoken of last month it won't work he will kick off or obscond. Talk of me having carers break, won't work as no one to care for him and kids won't like and cause further emotional imbalance, , so this decision purely break for all of us together, be tough, be consequences, but I just want to see if they are right or wrong as I'm the one who has to deal with it at the end of the day.

But yes feel like a warrior planning and going for it, but not going to lie when thinking about it, I'm on toilet due to anxiety 😆 x

I can feel the dreaded 2 year anniversary approaching too. No real change here. I think of you often.

No big change this end either, my husband broke me emotionally this week with his behaviour to point yesterday I rang brain injury team and requested overnight placement, then I felt upset feeling defeated, yet no one has returned my call, just left to it as usual (surprise surprise).

I hope your partner recovering better now since op and infection eased now.

Ok, so risk taker I know I am, but since last post, as so inpatient and anxiety high we've done TWO camping trips (1 night each) 28th march and 2nd April. Been tense both times, not been great, I feel I am gaining a six pack coming on from being on alert and on edge , but I'm going to keep exposing for 1night each time before big one in summer, best I can.

Brain Injury team totally unaware of two trips I've done since last meeting , going to be shocker.

Well done for your 2 camping trips its great to hear and really impressive how far you and your family have come in the last 2 years, you should write a book about your experience when the time is right

I just want our early summer break to go well as few hours drive away, the two camping trips been close to home for practice 45-50mins drive away. First camping trip we nearly headed back home, was all down to communication, and what the hell wr doing. Second trip was all overwhelming too much to take in as lots to do on site, and lots of campers, but quiet to reception staff when I asked on arrival.

I think matter of figuring out what environment, but I feel my responses with many hiccups has been calm which is needed and we've all been in tucked by 8:30pm to head off for 9:30am next morning.

Yes feels great to do, but my god is nerve racking not being in my comfort zone, but I know if I can keep trying all should help with experience and help with all our skiils and enjoyment will come with it in time, and my forming six pack turns in to jelly again lol.

It may be worth getting in touch with the caravan and camping organisation for some advice and recommendations for really quiet sites to visit theyhave thousands of members with sites all over the country and if your husband can tolerate wearing earplugs and eye coverings i think they would benefit him greatly when you go next time. Take care and I hope you have great times on your adventures
