Post subdural haematoma

Afternoon all ,I suffered a severe subdural haematoma nearly 3 years ago and have just been diagnosed with myoclonos, I'm type 1 diabetic and had to be taken in to hospital because of severe trembles! They blamed it on low blood sugar, has anyone suffered from something similar so long after initial injury? Thanks

Hi Pranny. As you chose not to have the haematoma drained have you had follow-up scans to check whether it has fully dispersed ? My bleed was coiled but the contamination from the blood left me with many brain injury issues, a minor one of which is spontaneous hiccups (a form of myoclonos).

There are many options of medication for myoclonic spasms but I'd be wanting to rule out any leftover issue within the site of the bleed. Are you seeing a neurologist at present ?

Hello cat3 I found out on Tuesday that I'd also suffered a second haematoma which was news to me! 6 weeks after consultation and I'm still waiting for an EEG I think covid is slowing everything down which is a bit annoying as the consultant said I needed an urgent EEG! Thanks for replying and please keep everything crossed, take care x

Everything crossed indeed Pranny... But keep checking with Consultant's secretary re your 'urgent' EEG. If any unusual symptoms or pain get yourself to A&E ; that might also result in an earlier EEG.

And please think again about any possible procedures suggested to drain and prevent further bleeds. Keep us updated m'love.

All best wishes, Cat x
