So another call from consultant, its a step forward.no side effects from botox( spasticity) some relief they think.throat tube infected antibiotics given( how can this happen when its been in place for 13 weeks?) The rise in temp/"sweating" is to do with the brain injury or rather an area connected with such.hyper or something will have to research it.he is not accepting of any responses but says there is some awareness.he says all are more involuntary and his condition is not improving.he agrees that contact would be beneficial.my son,he says is on the lower scale for recovery.WOW...
Crying/sick of crying: So another call from... - Headway
Crying/sick of crying
I've heard all of this, exactly, I've been told for the past 4 months that my partner is minimally conscious plus. He uses his good arm, but not in response to any commands, he does smile and laugh, but he really can't look at me, he can fixate on his blanket for ever, but cannot look at me, I find this really hard to deal with. I'm not sure that seeing me helps him, he seems oblivious, but I know I need it, so keep pestering, you need to maintain your relationship with your son, it's important. I take little videos to show others how he is doing. As I've said before, my partner struggled with his temperature. He seems ok now, he is actually quite well at the moment, just not 'with me'. I'm visiting later so who knows, maybe today is the day x
If your son is listed as critical then they need to let you see him. Have you at least had a zoom or phone call with him? This not being able to visit our loved ones is causing needless suffering. Why are the gowns, mask and gloves not enough to allow a visit for 15 minutes? This kidnapping has to stop! Call to insist on a visit. They always say they are on low end to recovery. They want ppl to remove vents etc. Prayers for you. Hang in there!
I'm glad they ruled out botox had negative impact as hopefully be part of his treatment plan, he may have every 3-6mths to help with rehabilitation which is positive and does show good results. Sadly temperature issues can take months my husband went hot to shivers, but sweating occurred when reducing meds.
I hope antibiotics works asap with his throat.
Hey let them tears roll, but blow those clouds hard now, your be getting regular facetime very soon and updates on hospital appear more active lately.
You need to find coping strategy after updates. Scream in pillow, walk, take up knitting. I don't know anything to keep your strength up that has positive, purposeful meaning to help YOU. This is just the hardest part, but toughest still to come. Have a think what you can do, you need to be strong it has horrible impact on health, you need to stay healthy for your sons rehabilitation.
Big virtual hug your way x
