Hi I had a ABI in December 2018 just lately I’ve been sleeping for 14 hours or more. And when I get up I feel so spaced out and not with it my head feels fuzzy just wondering if anyone has had anything similar.

Hi Bell. It's not unusual to be constantly tired after brain injury of any type. I'm a night owl so never get more than 10hours (never sleep during daytime) and still struggle with fatigue after 9 years, mainly in winter.

Apart from suffering the classic after-effect of a bleed & treatment, I'm wondering if medication might be further slowing you down. Do you have an SSRi for your depression and any other meds which might need re-assessing ? x

Hi thanks for the reply I am on medication and have been on the same ones for over 8 years maybe could do with a review with the doctors

Agree with med review and possibly lack of fluids due to timescale of sleeping. All the best

My GP insists on yearly reviews since my Bi. My meds rarely change, except for two years ago when a heart problem suddenly intensified.

After numerous A&E visits and an admission but no answers (even from the consultant cardiologist) a passing smartass cardio doctor told me to stop certain heart meds and, overnight, the issue was remedied !

Just wanted to illustrate how medication we've used for years can suddenly prove incompatible owing to changes within ourselves.

Good luck m'love in finding answers. x

Dear Bell,

Welcome to the TBI Survivors Club..... Yes sometimes 'Fuzzy' Headed, nothing you can 'put your finger' on, exhaustion/ tiredness, even if you have 'Been asleep' ALL day. Odd 'feelings' Headaches, Tummy 'Troubles', Very Strange Sensations, you can't quantify..... YES I Understand how you 'feel'.... trust me, we ALL do Bell. Do you ever 'find yourself' just Standing/ Sitting There- clearly putting on your socks, so 'Why' did you stop? What's with the 'Holding Onto The Kettle' or 'Watching The Shower'- not In It.... Just Watching the water???? Doesn't that Raindrop look 'Pretty', as it rolls down the win.... What the 'Heck' am I thinking!..... Ring any 'Bells' Bell?

Yes it IS Crazy/ Stupid/ Silly, not to mention 'Completely Daft', behaviour.... and we ALL do it! I haven't quite put 'My' Finger, on it, either- I think that maybe, without being 'funny' in any way, our Brains just need 'odd moments out'- as it were. (The 'Faithfull Old Machine' took rather a 'Thumping'- some years back and, as a result, the Film 'jumps off' now and again.)

So basically Bell, unless these symptoms 'Seriously Impede' you, then just 'except' that Five Minute Sit- when you 'should' be Making The Tea. (No- ones going to 'Die', if the toast is 'late'...) You are 'Doing' OK Bell, in fact, More Than that.... You are 'Doing' Brilliant.

So just Keep 'Doing', what you are Doing- short 'Breaks' and all.
