NURSE HIT NERVE IN HAND PLACING IV

I had surgery last week and the nurse went to place IV and draw blood all.of a sudden wow super eletrical shock down my thumb I told her it may not be a good area had 2 surgeries in that hand a major one last year she continued and the iv was in for 3 days i did not have much movement as it was all taoes but once tape was off and such I realized I was having pain down my thumb and some to palm it hurst to hold anything and feels weekish like uncoordinated. I am very upset i have been through hell with this hand hope it will get better.

It does sounds like the needle hit a nerve, and continuing with the procedure has probably caused bruising and pain which can last for a couple of weeks or more. I had the same a few years ago and my arm was literally black and blue for almost a month.

It should settle before too long although slight sensitivity can last for months. Keep an eye out for swelling or increased pain in the unlikely event of infection. 😐
