Hey I'm an adult

Well just realised its 21 years since my rta and becoming this new person.

I suppose this means I am definitely a adult. This some would dispute but I can no longer use my new age ( years since my rta).

Then again when I was actually 21 I never grew up.

As I have posted before I celebrate my rta as my birthday as it seems more relevant than my actual birthday.

Due to present restrictions it's a strange birthday this year.

Hang on if I can't celebrate 21 years this year maybe I don't have to become an adult to next year.

Oh for those who know I was trying to write down my experiences a bit of bad news. Bl##dy laptop crashed and wiped out everything I had wrote.

Yes I know I should have backed it up on memory stick or the cloud. But guess what ....I didn't. Hey ho of I go again.

This time I WILL back everything up.

Hope everyone is keeping safe.

Pax

Does lack of celebration qualify as grounds for a none-birthday ? (sounds like a cop-out to me). 🥴

………..so it's happy 21st Pax ! 😄

Sorry to hear you lost all your history though m'love ; that's rotten luck.

Good to see you Paxo. x

Hi Paxo

Interesting to read what you’re saying about being a new person. Sam’s (my 24 year old son) is two and a half years post TBI. His main issue is depression and fatigue. The other day, for the first time, he started talking about the new him. In the early days of severe symptoms the antidepressants didn’t work and he didn’t want to go down the counselling route. Maybe him talking about the new person he is is the beginning of a move forward.

Sorry you lost your data - it’s a bummer and I’m speaking from personal experience here!! A repeat offender too!

Does this mean you qualify for a "key to the door" now - better take care not to lose it :-)

Maybe we should have two birthdays, birth date and new me day. That way, twice the presents and twice the cake 😋

I haven't left primary school yet, 9yrs since the mark ll version was born. Unfortunately both my actual birthday and mark ll are close together not long after Xmas and New Year, so both are damp squibs 😀

Same here with close together. Actually was born and of may and had rta begining of June.

Don't really bother much with actual bday. Reminds me of who I am not. Wife and daughters understand rest of family think it's strange. Maybe it is but who cares.

Good attitude, my brain hiccup is more relevant than my birthday. It is like a rebirth into an abstract world that I had to learn to live in. Everything changed in the blink of an eye, and although I wanted to pick up where I left off, it soon came as a slap in the face, that it was life, but not as I knew it.
