I really need help from experts in brain injuries and language problems

So this is what happened to me, for some weird reason when I was 15 years old I lost the abilities to understand a lot of things like books, videos, movies etc., it's not that I don't understand what's happening, but that I don't understand the language, I have to say that I didn't lose the ability to understand any type of language, because most of the time I understand things in real life, I already went to see a neurologist, a neuropsychologist, a psychiatrist and a psychologist, none of them has been able to tell me what happened to me, I have read that being unable to understand language is a common consequence of brain injury, which is why I think it's weird that there aren't a lot of people with problems understanding things, for those of you wondering, I did have a CT scan 1 year ago and the results were normal, I also had an IQ test and the results were 117 and 140 on verbal comprehension.

Did you have a brain injury at that age? Or are you following the symptoms? There are some curious bits and bobs that do happen such as Foreign Accent Syndrome with language and understanding.

With brains the you can have a scan that comes back all clear as most will only see big stuff. CT scans generally see broken bones ie skull and Bleeds at the time.

I didn't have a TBI or stroke, it's possible that I suffered some cerebral hypoxia, but I don't think it's very likely, my psychiatrists say that I developed schizophrenia when I was 15 and that's why I have these problems, but I have never heard of schizophrenia causing language comprehension problems

Hi,

The problem with the symptoms you have eluded to are quite common across a lot of illnesses some physical and some though a psychological trauma. Symptoms as widespread as diabetes, fatigue, hormone imbalance, epilepsy etc can cause symptoms similar to having a Head injury as can having some form of PTSD,

As already mentioned to see any fine issues within the brain structure, you need a really high powered MRI scanner and even then you need someone whom has been trained to identify specific brain issues.

One of the problems a lot of us go through is finding out what went wrong with us in any detail. Like myself I had a fall, something got damaged but whilst the specialists could see I had problems they couldn't pin point a specific issue. I found it incredibly frustrating trying to find answers - then the light bulb came on an I realised even if they found the problem, fixing it would be so invasive, it isn't worth the risk.

So I worked out that if I am say 30% percent damaged then I am still 70% ok and if I can't do some things I want, at least I can do other things and just concentrated on them and worked around the other things I couldn't
