Last night was the first time since my TBI 9 years ago, that I fell, on my head... Yep, that's right, fell, on my head!
Not just falling and hitting my head, literally falling on my head.
Ok, it was only from the bed onto carpet, but even so, it HURT.
So how did I manage that, I hear you thinking.
I was sat on the end of the bed reaching for the light, when I over reached, and ended up chewing the carpet!
I know... Stupid!
Luckily I woke up this morning, as it was right before bed!
My question is, if anyone has hit their head post injury, and has it had any noticeable negative effects, aside from the ones you already have, immediately or further down the road?

When I had a significant (many previous) concussion in 2012 , I was on the road to recovery and then towards the end of the year fell down the stairs. Much worse than before.
Then each minor bump after that made things much worse.
Nine years on, difficult to tell how much bearing the original injury has on this one
ouch! Sounds like you've had a fair share of knocks also.
I'm not a hypochondriac or anything, I just think that hitting my head since my accident was always a fear of mine. Maybe irrational, possibly instilled in me by family ect.
There is a big concern over "second impact syndrome" where you get successive head injuries. However, that is mainly when they are months/ weeks apart.
However, if you have had many head impacts over your life, they do add up and lead to problems.
Keep on an eye on your symptoms and any concerns go to A&E or your GP
Haven't fallen onto the top of my head but banged it with force. I have a brick enclosure for my bins with a low door frame and, because I don't THINK, I occasionally lean in then stand upright too soon and crack my head really hard. It's hard to say whether there've been repercussions as, since the Bi, I can be ok one day then rough the next.
I do wonder often though whether the three head traumas before my Bi might have caused the eventual bleed on my brain. Twice my feet have left the ground on an icy pavement and I've launched backwards with my head making first contact with the pavement.
The other time I accidentally stepped underneath a swinging sledgehammer and got the full force on the crown. My husband was hammering a lintel into place on a kitchen extension and I walked past the ladders/ended up on the floor !
I guess our skulls must be pretty damned tough or else everyday life would be a risky business. Hope you've learned from your mistake Rich ; I guess if you landed on carpet from only a couple of feet and there haven't been after effects you'll be fine. Any dizziness..... see your GP. x
Hi Kat, my goodness! Sounds like you've had some pretty severe knocks. It's making me grimace just to read your reply. It kinda makes my faceplant look very lame!
You betcha! I had a severe TBI (on-site Glasgow score of 4) back in 2004. Last winter I slipped on ice and came down HARD, hitting my temple on the corner of a cement patio block. Yeah, that hurt... but no issues after the headache subsided.
Yep, with the help of one of my monster dogs. If you have ever seen the YouTube clip of the old dear that throws a stick for her Great Dane, well that was me, but without the stick.
Man can fly, at least until gravity takes over. I was airborne for about ten meters. As I landed my head did take a bashing, but that turned out to be the least of my injuries. I had a fracture dislocation of my humurus. Can't say that the impact of my head made any difference.
The daft great dog, if you think of Hooch, when he realised he couldn't go any further, proceeded to sit on my chest and stop the well meaning people from approaching me.
Eventually he was placed in someone's yard. Now the daft lump, who can trip over a twig, managed to clear a seven foot wall to resume guard duty.
He was then secured and taken home.

Yes & no new effects. I think because I hit my forehead and my TBI was hitting the side and back of my head. So, affecting different parts of my brain. IMHO.
I guess I've been very lucky - my serious TBI was 40 years ago when I was knocked off my bike by a car going full speed. Since then, I've had several falls, most notably one where I went over the handlebars of my bike and landed on the top of my head (wearing a helmet of course, otherwise I probably wouldn't be writing this).
Though I felt fine, I made sure I didn't move, but just sat and rested for about 5 minutes. That was probably about the fourth time I've fallen and banged my head. So far, no ill effects. Judging by that, you should be fine.
I've had a seizure in the loo after SAH and having a shunt put in, in 2010 if ever worried See Doc for peace of mind or you might be like me head is a toughy after what it has been through. Seizures banging on head board, on the loo floor xxxx...All of us really so cheer up and if in doubt see Doc xxxx Good luck and move clock closer ha xxxxx
