Hi everyone, I joined about a month ago and have been looking in every day, so it's about time I posted. First of all I would like to say that I wish I had found you a long time ago,
In 2016 I had a fall down some stairs and landed head first on to a radiator (the radiator is fine by the way) I fractured my skull in 2 places had a subarachnoid haemorrhage and bruising too my occipital lobe, I can associate with a lot of the posts I've seen so far , it took me over 2 years before I could accept my brain injury, and I'm still learning new things about myself daily, I am actually getting to like the new me' I did a fatigue management course at headway and it was invaluable to me, so to find this site and too be able to connect with people in a similar situation to me is great, in my experience it is only others that have suffered a brain injury that truly understand how life is now.
Take care all

Welcome to the arena. As I am sure you will have gathered through reading the posts, there is a wealth of differing experience and knowledge to tap into here, should you see fit to do so, both generally, in terms of brain injury and more specifically, in terms of your injury. I hope you find it useful.
Hi Twice and welcome. My SAH was 8 years ago (spontaneous frontal lobe) and I still have good & bad days ...……... but ever grateful for the good and managing the bad ok.
I've learned that I'll never learn to pace myself when the weather's good and the garden's calling, despite the inevitable price to pay !
Good to meet you ; see you again soon I hope.... Cat x
Even though I learned to prioritize plan and pace myself all the time, I am also so guilty of over doing things especially when it comes to my garden, it's the one place where I feel totally free and at peace, it seems so therapeutic for me to be there pottering about doing things and listening to the birdsong, I know I will be paying for it for 2-3 days after but at the time my brain seems to override all this .
Sorry for not saying this, but the reason I use the name twice is because my short term memory is not great and I have to check everything thing I do twice
Welcome. Pretty new here myself but finding it most helpful to read and share people’s individual experience. I work as a gardener so oddly find myself lucky weathering out the post concussion syndrome symptoms whilst trying to keep hold of my job. Bizzarely I am able to keep working despite the lockdown as I’m able to socially distance well in a big garden. And yes most of the time it is therapeutic and good for the soul too! Wishing you well in your recovery.
Hello Twice. I loved reading your post, especially the bit about getting to like the new you 😊 I didn’t find this forum for nearly 5 years and really regret not finding it sooner.
