having a cough

So I've had tonsillitis for a week now and now have a cough,but every tine i cough it hurts my head. I have like a ache in my head every time i cough, is it just the strain from coughing. or should i visit the doctor.

Hi Chrissy. Your profile doesn't mention whether your aneurism was coiled or whether you had a craniotomy. A craniotomy can cause some nerve damage which would create painful areas for months, years or permanently, and especially when under strain.

I have coiling and, although coughing creates a feeling of discomfort & pressure in my head, I can't say it's painful. But there's a condition where coughing does cause headaches, and if they're short term (seconds/minutes/less than an hour) they're harmless and treatable with pain killers.

If the headaches are accompanied by numbness, dizziness, blurred vision or neck pain, and continue long after the coughing stops, they're less common and need investigating.

If in any doubt Chrissie, see your GP. Hope this helps.

I had a coil, i've been to local hospital for a check up and i'[m OK. But will contact doctors on Monday if it still giving me a problem.x
