Art as therapy, drawing again, etc. Good news!!

Hi and good morning everyone.

I just wanted to post a happy post from me for a change. I am an artist and have been for 10 years since things starting changing in my behaviour and before the RTC in 2012.

I use art as my therapy and away time. I am expressing myself in ways I never thought with my art and letting out a lot of thoughts and feelings with expressionism work.

I used to always draw until 2016 when drawing was getting tough as it would hurt my head and I would get angry and frustrated.

Due to my cold headache this week I could not go out to my studio. I drew for the first time in almost a year! Not long but enough and spreading it out will work for the future, it is great for me to know I can do it once more.

I have been fighting for people with disabilities to get help with promotion, representation, etc. at art events as I cannot attend them. I have moved a lot of mountains for me and I have some shows coming up. I do need to attend and will be represented for free. They are so kind.

Good news and I may be onto an income for the first time in 10 years. Just brills.

Thanks all and have a good weekend!!😊

First time in 5 years - out in the cold on your own, first time in 3 years enjoying the act of drawing, first time in almost a year drawing again. First time in 10 years to earn an income - your skilled artist talent is a magnet for financial reward. This picture, tour Eiffel, a symbol commissioned to celebrate the centennial of the French Revolution. Just this morning I read the yellow vests protests in France are celebrating one year today. I hope you continue to get your revolution.

So many firsts. Acknowledgement and measurement of events such as these brings exactly the right dose of confidence for more firsts to occur. You have overcome so much.

When we explain to family friends about a first in a jubilant tone, they smile and join in the joy you share but don't fully grasp the enormity of the sense of reclaiming the self that is you. To take a step (large or small) on the path towards wholeness - there are no words to describe - and can only be understood by those that have walked a mile in your shoes.

Your are an inspiration. May your creativity continue to bring peace and healing to the planet as you continue on your journey to the same.

Do you do an undercoat? It looks like you use a palette knife?

Yes. I coat the boards with a primer...black or white it all depends on the painting!!

Wow that's beautiful and so inspiring! As a mum of a son with brain injury I hope to use art therapy in his recovery as I know it helps me even though I don't express myself in ways that people can tell what they are!! :) so lovely to hear your good news thanks for sharing :)

Art is the best therapy more often with music in headphones. Cancels everything out around and in the head!! It is the only place I really relax. Thank you.

Sorry I have times where I come on this forum. I missed your post. Please try any art as therapy even if you think it is not good...it is so good for the brain and relaxing. Time away from all the other STUFF😊
