Just wanted to connect, my dad had a brain bleed stroke 6 months ago, I am home nursing him. Complete vegetable, peg fed, double INCONTINENCE catheterised. Disphasic cognitively impaired. Bed bound.
So many new things to learn and sort out.
If any one needs any tips on equipment , pads, catheters, hoist, bumpers, bedding,. Message me. Think we’ve done most things now.
We were sent home with no help in place and we survived

My Family were told when I was out of it to put me in a home and say goodbye to me. 6 months later I had a shunt put in as I had hydrocephalus. Awoke and saw my sisters who sang to me and my Lovely Hubby and Daughter, My Daughter said "welcome back Mum" and we had a cry together. Still got short term memory loss but I remember more and more. Instead of forgetting what was said 10 minutes ago !! Sang to a nurse in hospital lol ..So I swear by music, any songs Dad likes ? keep talking to him as he is in there somewhere. Also make sure catheter is emptied, brings it all back and reminds me of what a good family I have xxx

But I would be shouting at the hospital and social services
The Hampshire chc have raised a safeguarding discharge, and asked me to complain through the channels. Luckily they are over the moon with the details to care with Dad
You are amazing, that is a lot to take on with no help. Before my partner left hospital, the social services were involved and they helped to sort out home care. Maybe its worth getting in touch with your local one for help. Also, instead of community care now, we get direct payments and this goes on a carer/support to help when and where needed, so I still work a few hours knowing he has the support x
a shame you didnt come here earlier, i wouldve advised you not to accept your dad home until a care package is in place.
however it shouldnt be too late, even if its just for a night carer so youre refreshed and maybe respite once a month. contact adult services to see what can be done.
