I suffered a left temporal brain abscess about 18 months ago. I've had set backs with my recovering but now feel fit enough to go on holiday. We've booked and will be going in a few days but it's a 5 hour flight and I'm worried about how it might effect me. Has anyone got any advise for me?

Flying after suffering a brain abscess
Flying on a commercial airplane should be no problem but if you are really concerned ring Headway or your GP.
Have you got insurance and have you declared your health problem?, they will have covered areas of concern with you before agreeing to cover you medically.
Im always asked do i use a mobility aid for walking and do i have epilepsy, both a no for me so dont know what difference it would make if i needed to say yes .

Hi Janet
Thanks for replying. Yes I've declared everything on my insurance policy so everything's covered there. You're right I think I might just visit my GP before we go or ring Headway. We did a short 2 hour flight earlier this year and I suffered with migraines on both of the days after we flew. It might just have been a coincidence but I'm trying to avoid it again this time.
