My keys have disappeared !

Living with Traumatic Brain Injury really is tough. My keys have disappeared from my pocket and I have no idea where they are. I was in a restaurant for lunch so I must go back and retrace my steps. It's not the first time. Everyday life is extremely difficult. Sometimes I am on top of the world, other times really low. Then now, confused and frustrated. What did I do with my keys? Hopefully someone somewhere has found them and I can get them back. I really need looking after 24/7 because just when I think I'm OK my keys have disappeared!

Hi there.

Same here, I keep certain things in certain pockets and check constantly they are there.

Spent ages once trying to find my house keys so as to lock the door. Was in a panic before finding them

......In the door lock. I had already put them there ready to lock up.

The best is car keys......A common place to find them is the fridge......Don't ask because I don't know why.

Hi,

I was recently looking for my keys only to find there in my hand all the time.

We are not different. We don't need caring for. We are just like everyone else.

People do strange things. But you'll never hear them admit it. We do!

If that means we need a carer then give me a couple.

Fingers crossed for you.

I always try to put objects like keys in the same place every time so I create a neural pathway /memory which works. Or write things down. I know of someone who keeps a pen and and pad in a handbag over her shoulder. Or if you can tell someone. Maybe put a spare somewhere safe.

My girlfriend keeps a set in of my keys in her house. Just in case. Never needed to use those. Best to always be prepared.

Thank you very much for your reply, as it happened by daughter had found the keys in the lock as I forgot them. Normally when going out I ask someone to close the door after me but on this occasion I used the keys. Since I do not normally do that my brain did not remember to take the keys out of the lock. Thankfully my daughter saved the keys!

Have you tried looking in your freezer, stupid I know but that where I found mine the other day but not sure how or why they got there. I don't even remember being in the freezer let alone why I would have my keys in my hand when doing so, its not as if I have to unlock the freezer, but its one of the many daft things I seem to do since my TBI

The thing is I truly believed I had the keys out with me but then I had left them in the door. Later on that day I was looking for my sunglasses for about half and hour before I realised they were on my head. It is quite easy to get confused by the simplest of things, it all depends what is going on and how tired I am on a particular day.

I need to try to keep on top of things, sleep enough and have a clear idea of what is happening around me.

I was walking around the park over the road for mine, thinking I had the dog out with me I kept calling his name for at least 10-15 minutes, I was gutted because I thought he had run off.

When I couldn't find him I went back home and he was sat in the house on the stairs 🤔 I was happy I hadn't lost him, but I was angry and sad because of what I'd done.
