Brain stem stroke

Dealing with a brain stem stroke. My husband is struggling after suffering a massive stroke. I'm finding it very hard to deal with as he is totally disabled and has bad tantrums.after caring for him for 18 months lm totally exhausted. Any body else suffering this way.

Hi, you can contact your local careers support network. Your GP might have details. And phone your local social services help desk and tell them you are exhausted and at the end of your tether and that you need some help to look after him, otherwise you cannot carry on. I don't know what support you have as regards family, but try this avenue.

Or if your finances are okay you could get in some care to suit you; but go down the social services route. They are a resource here. Good luck x

Hi lindahannah. They did give me 3hrs a week help for shopping. But it' been taken off me because of lack of funding. Social services have been no help at all. Peter came home from hospital after 5months .peg Fed. Unable to walk. Needing insulin injections. And l just had to get on with it. I get carers four times a day but they don't do medication or injections.and in between time it's just me. Sorry to moan.

Oh my word. I am so sorry, I hoped they might be more helpful. Another option might be the Stroke Association who you could talk to about the situation you have been left in. Unfortunately the carers do not do medication. I will come back to you with any other thoughts. Cat's suggestion of Carers' Support is a good one. Your GP surgery should have contact details, or CAB.

You are not moaning to me, you are telling me your frustrations. That is ok with me xx
