What is your advice on a PIP first assessment? To help anyone going through the long and stressful re-assessment/tribunals path?

Good luck.

Advice is collect all the evidence you can and take a camera crew in with you cos the assessor will just lie and make things up

They need assessors that have some type of neuro qualification or knowledge. I’ve had conversations with a GP about fatigue and how much it effect people with brain injuries. I used the word fatigue several times, both mental and emotional fatigue! He then translated this in a letter that “I like to have a nap most afternoons” and he never even mentioned fatigue or brain injury in the letter. This is the sort of letter that an assessor may read and think the applicant is just lazy and likes a snooze.

I think a neuro qualified person should fill in the application and assess them as well.

The NHS already relies on Headway for brain injury knowledge and welfare.

During the change over from ATOS to the Centre for Health and Disability Assessments, CHDA couldn't deal with the initial demand.

In our area the NHS provided the service, with a "Health Care Professional" with a knowledge of the health problem, result interviews with respect and understanding.

Good luck. I was turned down 3x even though I was still in a wheelchair. All sorted and I think they are looking more open with people with a brain injury now
