Neurologist appointment today

Good morning all I hope everyone is OK. I felt the need to share this as I am feeling quite anxious for some reason. Today I have my long awaited appointment to see a neurologist at King's. I say long awaited as it'should been going on nown since my EEG in Sept 2016.. Appointments changed several times and not knowing what ito all means for me. I was unfortunate to have another seizure a month before my year was up. I'very not had one now since then so it'should safe to say my low dose of lamotrigine is working. Plus less stress from moving house from a noisy area! Sorry to go on here... My anxiety is from whether they will say they'll take me off meds so a further wait if I can drive. Or they keep me on them as they are working. Who knows but what will be will be. Can't say I am desperate to drive yet as the whole process of doing a driveability assessment stresses me. But I would like to again when I feel ready.

In another weird way going back to King's just brings all back. Not that I remember much but my mum sure does.

Have a good day all xx

Good morning i dont have any advice just wanted to say hope it goes ok 😊 like you said what will be will take care xx

My husband has a long awaited neuro appointment yesterday. Same problem as you, he's been well since the meds, but if we take him off them, will he has another seizure. Complicated in his case as the meds don't agree with his cancer treatment so we'd like him off them if possible.

Good luck. Hope all goes well

Thank you, hope your visit goes well.

Good luck with your appointment. Like you I had a neurologists appointment in 2014. The first since my brains conversion :) in 1967. I was rather worried about it but to be honest it was a real pleasure once I met the lady.

She layed most of my concerns to rest and offered me medication for my epilepsy *if I wanted it,* far from the 'you will take this ....' I had dumped all my medication within 18 months of my op and with no real effects - other than the odd petit mal event and some depression.

The other plus in the matter of my BI was that prior to major surgery end of June 2017 I mentioned to the anaesthetist that I was worried about the level of anaesthesia and that I might fit during the op and all due to my neurosurgery 50 years before.

Her reply was that my state as I am now had been with me for 50 years; the 17 years before I was someone else and that everything now would be normal for me and as though nothing had ever happened.

Considering some maniac surgeon was about to flay my leg, bore holes in my kneecap to attach the separated tendons and then stitch me up leaving me with a scar in excess of 1 foot length, a limp and an inability to climb stairs for the rest of my life I went to my fate a happy man.

Mind you it stung a bit when I came round, maximum dose of morphine did not touch it but when twinned with tramadol the pain suddenly went.

I really don't understand why people overdose on this rubbish; nightmares, sweats and consitpation are a problem when taken medicinally; wonder what those erks get out of it?

Thanks for your wishes. It paid off as my appointment went well. It was a neurologist I saw soon after my injury and she was very nice and thorough with what she explained. In a nutshell I am now able to reapply for my driving licence and will be kept on the low dose of lamotrigine, and return to her in one year. She will refer me for a driving assessment too which is what i'd have done anyway due to my injury. I feel a lot more positive than I did this morning. She picked up on my high anxiety which I told her was mainly due to being back at the hospital I was in at my worse stage. But this day has become a new step forward in recovery. Feels very strange in a good way! Anyway enough about me...goodnight all xxx
