Hey everyone
I took my partner to a few taster sessions at headways and he really enjoyed it .
Does anyone know how long it can take for an assessment and funding to be agreed .

Hi Charlie
Who requested the care needs and financial assessment?
In my county it can take 6-8 weeks for someone to come out to assess but it could be sooner or later depending on urgency. A GP or another professional could request an urgent referral if there is a safeguarding issue or other emergency. For instance, the person lives alone and is at risk of harming themselves by falling, not having the necessary mobility equipment, or the person’s partner/carer is threatening to walk away from the situation, again leaving them potentially at risk.
You could call the Adult Care service and enquire about timescales. You could also ask the GP to send in their own referral if there is any urgency.
Does the Headway branch in your area have any information about this? Is there a general carer’s support organisation in your area? They might be able to tell you more. If not, try carersuk.org
Best wishes,
Lazuli
Hi. I'm in Kent and akthough the initial assessment was quite quick (2-3weeks) it was about 6 weeks before the paperwork was approved.
i dont know how long but if they put you in care home they are dam fast doing that
Be glad you got assessed. I think should move fairly rapidly after that. I'm waiting 6 month after being reffered by O.T for review and to go more to day centre.
He hasn’t been assessed yet that’ is what we are waiting for . We have been waiting since before Xmas . Hopefully won’t be long as when I did call said it was down as a priority. Xx
