Hi all went to see the rare headache specialist at John Radcliffe hospital today, he put me on some new tablets after trying all the others to no avail. These new ones are called Venlafaxine and im only three weeks in so still early days but they are working great on the headaches and depression. Pain is very low and not impacting on life for the first time since the tbi in 2013. Hes so pleased and doesnt want to see me for 12 months unless theres a problem like the tablets stop working in which case i can call him but in 12 months if im the same still then he will discharge me! Onwards and upwards! ππππ

Thats really good to hear. Im feing amazing with my mental health as well on this new drug, I had been on citalopram for depression for a long tine and think it stopped working for me so its nice to get on top of the depression again as well as the headaches. Xx
I see professsor cader there? My main neuro hospital is Southampton hospital wessex neurologica lunit but i see JR for the headaches and Basingstoke. They send us to a lot of hospitals dont they! ππ
Yes they certainly do! When my condition was first diagnosed I was admitted to the Radcliffe Infirmary, also in Oxford. It burnt down in the 90s destroying all my medical records with it. So now its the JR - although last time I needed admittance there wasn't a bed and I spent 5 days in my local hospital first which was awful. I am under Mr Cudlip at the JR and also used to see Professor Byrne. But the latter has retired now and I can't for the life of me remember who has taken over from him.
