Hi Shannon.
I encourage you again, as myself and many of us have replied before, you are not helping your health anxiety at all by being on the various healthunlocked forums. You need to stop joining all the forums, or searching the internet, and seek therapy to help you manage your anxiety.
The skull is really tough and is strong enough to protect our brains from many bumps and bangs that we incur throughout our lives. We are not medically trained on here so if you do have symptoms then you need to see your doctor.
Every thought of yours is a real thing - a force. As you think all the time, please always be as positive as possible. Try and override any particular negativity with a positive outcome. Good luck with it.
Dear Shannon,
It is great that you KNOW that you have health anxiety; so you know that your fears are bigger than the likelihood of anything actually being wrong. That being the case, a two-pronged approach can help.
First, It is important, of course, to make sure that you determine if you need medical attention. You have probably already evaluated whether you actually feel any new symptoms. If so, then you need to assess whether they merit a trip to a doctor. That can be a challenge when on holiday, but if you really sense that something is wrong or if being seen by a doctor is what will calm your nerves, then it can be a good investment of time and effort.
Second, you can erode the anxiety itself. It is very human to be scared of (further) injury. Regardless of whether you feel or have read about an impact to your head, the anxiety is a real symptom to treat. What has worked for you in the past? Some gentle exercise (e.g. walking), especially in Nature helps some people. Listening to music or guided meditation recordings works for others. Deep breathing always seems to help. Closing your eyes and visualizing the anxiety as light or shapes that are filtering out and away from you can help you sense the anxiety as something that is there, but changed and diminished. Sipping cool water and imagining it diluting away the anxiety can help too.
Know that we are out here thinking of you and wishing you calmness and well being. I am sure that you will find it a relief to channel your energy away from the anxiety and toward continued healing.
All the best to you!
