recovery times do vary,if you are worried go to your G.P. and ask for a blood test,or if he starts to feel ill then go to A.and E ask for a C.T scan with contrast. Hope its just "normal" swelling.

Morning. My husband had his in July 2013, and to this day still has a swelling at the side of his face. It is a build up of fluid I think, and has never caused him any problems, although it does look a bit odd!!

Yes it does look odd. I think they would have to do other surgery to fix it. My husband doesn't want to do that. Just don't like people staring .

Yes, I know what you mean, people can be cruel. But he doesn't care now, actually he loves showing off his scars, and always has his hair shaved so that people can see them!! He told the grandchildren he had been bitten by a shark when he first had the staples in!! At least they are still alive, that is the main thing isn't it!!?? Best wishes, Molly

After my cranioplasty, The side I have the titanium plate was swollen for a good 1.5 months. It looks better than though...because the slight dent was more filled in. It takes a while, but make sure if it doesn't go down to see your GP to see if there is infection. If the scar has healed up nicely and there is no fluid or ooze coming from it and doesn't hurt he should be fine. But infection is one thing to watch out for. Did they put his own bone flap in or did they put in another material like titanium?
