I am very lucky to find this forum because I thought I am stuck don't know where I can shere what I have been going through since 7 months ago,
I was having a very bad headache on and off to cut the long story short I was diagnosed of brain aneurysm. I after several in and out of the hospital I finally went for angiogram with neurological themes so I was told it must be treated because of the shape, size and the position
After 4 weeks I went for the treatment (coiling) I just had it done last week since then I have headache and sharp pain on my head
Please has anyone experienced aneurysm before and what are the recovery symptoms
Thank you
Elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth and wecome. I had a burst aneurysm (subarachnoid haemorrhage) coiled 5 years ago. What you're experiencing is normal after such a procedure and the pain can persist for many weeks.
I was given the maximum dose of pain killers, daily for two months. After discharge from hospital I gradually reduced the frequency, as prolonged use of opioid analgesics can actually exaccerbate the pain.
Ask your GP to review your pain control ; people's response to pain meds can vary significantly. Ibuprofen and morphine have no effect on me so I stick with Codeine............though even they fail me at times. I still have severe headaches though far less frequently than in the early days.
Good luck m'dear in finding pain relief, though you might have to wait a while ; One week is very early days so rest/sleep as much as possible and keep well hydrated (v.important in controlling headaches).
Take care of yourself Elizabeth, and remember we're always here. Cat x
I am very grateful for your response it means a lot to me I feel better when I read your reply thank you so much. 2 days after my operation I was giving paracetamol, coding and Aspirin 75mg once per day to prevent blood clot
So when I was having that bad headache I was ask to stop taking Aspirin
So I feel better the pain only come now towards evening time .
I want to check with dr if there is any alternative to Aspirin because I don't want to have blood clot
It's almost five years since my aneurysm was coiled and I'm still in pain, my career as a self employed driving instructor has ended and I'm struggling to find work due to side effects of the op, medication and condition. For me the aneurysm has been a big life changer. A hell of a lot depends on the aneurysm type, size and very Importantly the location, we're all different and respond differently to to the condition. I know that probably doesn't give you a great sense of relief but it's a very comp!icated thing.
The main thing is you're still here, the pain is an inconvenience but it can have an impact. I'm on Paracetamol, Ibuprofen and Amitriptyline anything stronger like codiene etc hits me too hard.
Hi Elizabeth, I had an aneurysm coiled five years ago, it took quite a few months before the headaches eased, I was put on aspirin for life as it's important to keep the blood thin, in January my aneurysm ruptured and I had bleed on the brain, I had to undergo more coiling and I have been struggling with daily headaches, my doctor has put me on amitryptiline, which hasn't got rid of them but made them more manageable. Mine are worse at night as I get more tired or stressed, make sure you take it easy and lots of luck love Alice xx
I will like to say thank you for your response, it means a lot to me
Yes when I was discharged 2nd day after the operation I was giving Aspirin 75mg to take once a day for 3 months but when I have headache I went to the hospital there they stop the Aspirin .
