Hi All, my Dad recently had burr hole surgery on both sides of his head for subdural haematomas. He now has toothache on the side which was operated on last could it be related to the surgery etc?

I don't know the answer to this, but how about ringing the hospital where he had the procedure and asking them if it's normal.

hi have rung the hospital and it looks like a dentist job, although it could be pain like when you get toothache when you have a cold if that makes sense.

I know exactly what you mean - I have the remnants of a stinking cold and it is hurting my teeth, ears, head etc.

I am sure that the dentist will be experienced enough to know if there is any problem caused by the burr holes and will send him back to the hospital if he feels that is needed.

Google trigeminal nerve and teeth or variants of this.

It could be that op was in area of trigeminal nerve and trigeminal neuralgia is often felt in jaws, teeth or gums.

Start with dentist who should be able to ID if tooth issue or something possibly related to op.

Could discuss it with a dentist over the phone first ....save a trip ? Quite possibly some sort of referred pain.
