I think the appointment time may vary slightly depending where in the country your friend lives but this would be something that the diagnosing docs would arrange and they should be able to tell him what to expect so he could simply give them a call and ask

The waiting for confirmation is awful and I really hope your friend gets answers and a suitable treatment plan asap.

Danny where cancer is suspected, the NICE guidelines states that two weeks is the standard timeframe for an urgent referral appointment in the UK , although of course it is important to remember that many brain tumours are not cancer....

and in the meantime GPs usually order all the baselines tests like blood tests and xrays if appropriate. Once the referral goes through the appropriate team will arrange all the necessary tests and they are usually done very quickly.

All I can say Danny is that I've found the NHS moves very quickly where any type of cancer is a possibility. I hope your friend will see a specialist soon and get the diagnosis and treatment needed. And let's hope any tumour found is benign though, whatever the scan result, these issues are treatable.

Best wishes for a good outcome for your friend. Please come back and tell us how he gets on. Cat x
