Help
penny1959 when you come out of this youll see a box which says in your area click on that and enter manchester if that doesnt work then phone the headway number see if they can help.
of course, and ive only just remembered this, you could always encourage your son to go along to your local headways group, people who have bi s and understand the frustation. for you a chanct to meet others who support us lot on a daily basis, not an easy task !!! of course theres always then the possibility of someone at the group being able to put your son in touch with another petrol head!!!
good luck to you both
steve
Thank you Steve. I have been trying to encourage him to a group I will persevere with that. It's Just nice to know someone was out there listening. Take care and all the best
penny i have a frontal lobe brain injury and can be real handful for my wife at time , but she tells me off, i dont remember why at the time ,but several weeks or maybe months later i ll remember and appologise.
my bi has also left me with an impediment, apart from when im typing or writing i swear continuously amongst other things.
i find coming onto the the forum helps as well because as i say i dont swear because im typing and feeeel a bit like i was before my bi.
having said that though, things crept up on me slowly ie the swearing, fear of strangers( id just got used to my psychiatrist when he was taken ill, hope he s ok, but that took nearly 3yrs, my gp brilliant bloke , listens to what ive got to say , asks me my opinionon my treatments and if anything needs changing, again nearly 4yrs,i refuse to see anyone else.
if nothing else penny try and persuade your son to have a look at this forum, maybe with you, yeh not a bad idea actually.

Hi Penny
You could try getting in touch with a local college to see if they offer any car mechanic sort of courses.
Remploy might be another possibility also a community rehab team OT might be able to point you in the right direction.
Depending on your son's abilities you could try talking to a local garage and see if it would be possible for him to go down and learn a little but this could be difficult with insurance issues etc.
Hope there is something in this for you.
If it's of any use he could try volunteering at a karting centre.
I hope you can find a way to stop the downward spiral.
Love n hugs to you both.
Xoxo
Penny.......................some good suggestions here from Random !
North Trafford college, a couple of miles from me, used to do basic motor-vehicle courses.
I'm sure there'll be others with such courses, maybe leading on to higher levels. You might like to search on Google for a list of technical colleges in Manchester to see which ones, if any, offer suitable courses.
Good luck & best wishes to you both. Cat x
Hi Cat. Thank you I will make some enquiries. I really really appreciate the help. Best wishes
I am no expert at all and a woman !!!!!! However I love cars too. Depending on what he want to know tell him to talk to me. I know quite a bit about cars. Everyone laughs at me and my brother giggles and says it's ironic I nearly died in a car crash, it was the best way to go for me 🤗
Hi Candy. I went through a long period after my divorce of 'making do' and could barely afford to run a car let alone pay garage bills. So I had to learn how to fix my own vehicles, including a replacement engine, brake shoes, bodywork etc.
It's getting harder & harder these days though since nuts & bolts are going out of fashion ! In any case, I'm getting too old for lying underneath cars in the cold & wet. xx
cat3 wow total respect. im a mechanical morom!!!
At that time I couldn't imagine life without a vehicle even though I couldn't afford one.
So my mum gave me £100 with which I bought a an old Skoda Estelle from the auction & kept it on the road for over 10 years.
You'd be surprised what you're capable of when the only alternative is go without !

Sexy men lay under cars though, well sometime times. Not sure I ready for anyone else yet but still 😊
Morning Penny,
Im into bikes as you can see and love em (well riding them) so I can see the likeness. Im not sure what your sons background is?
Can he work in cars?
Would he be able to work voluntary in your local garage to help out?
May be a good starter to get into a garage and help for free. Employers love that. Worked for me 35 years ago.
Sounds strange but have a chat with the local garages and tell them the storey of your son and whats happened even make him with you, there are plenty of good people out there and you won't know until you try. Be honest and friendly. Hope it goes well. Nick X
