Happiness is.......

For me and for today at least it is finally getting my licence back a full month after the assessment..

Having that little piece of plastic in my hand..... I don't really think there are words for how it feels.

Just thought I'd share some good news.

Hope you all have something wonderful happen this weekend.

Love n hugs

Hi Cat and thanks

My short licence expired almost a year ago and the forms came out to me about a month before that.

There is no choice but to wait and wait and just for fun wait some more.

The letter about the assessment came before Xmas.

More waiting for the assessment. Even after that more waiting.

I know it shouldn't have annoyed me but until I actually had that piece of plastic in my hand they could have changed their minds.

Thanks again

Sorry Cat

That was rude of me earlier.

I honestly do empathise with the under reassessment bit. It was like living under a thunder cloud.

I wish I could say that it won't be anywhere near as long for you but sadly it takes as long as it takes.

Good luck with it not that you will need it.

Love n hugs

I'm so pleased for you... Almost makes it worth getting up for. Now you can take yourself and family out for a nice Sunday drive tomorrow!

Did you have to pay again for a brand new licence or did they give you your old one back?

Because these photo licences have to be changed every 10 years don't they??

Really thrilled for you hunny

Hugs Laura xx

Hi Laura

No I didn't have to pay. They sent my new licence using the existing photo from my short licence.

Don't know about having to change every 10

Years. The paperwork doesn't say anything about that.

Even better it expires when I get to the age that it would have normally anyway.

Of course I have to tell them if there are any changes but it feels great.

Now I have to let the insurers know.

Hubby tried to wind me up by saying I can drive over 100 miles tomorrow.

Fat chance of that. I am safe because I know when to stop.

Hugs back to you

If you read the very small print on the licence it says that you need to replace then every 10 years. It may be because obviously people change in 10 years so it's just a case of updating your photo I think...

Yes, I have a hubby who is a bit of a joker as well, mind you we are heading off to Wales for a family wedding at the end of the month and I have already told Arthur that I want to drive "My New Car" for some of the way! I can't wait but equally I am dreading a 4 hour journey depending on traffic as I can just about make an hours journey without being in so much pain and discomfort...

Hubby went to Wales for his Sister's 60th, I wasn't well enough to travel and it took him nearly 9 hours to get home due to an accident! If he had left half hour earlier he would have been in that accident but his other Sister who he took with him was dithering and they were late leaving, thank God for dithering is all I can say!

Enjoy your new found freedom hunny!

Hugs Laura xx

Woohoo!

I guess we are really lucky that we live walking distance from the train station, the supermarket, the girls' school... Before my accident, I only drove at weekends, really, so it isn't a big problem for me (I am 'blind', now). The girls have swimming lessons a way away, but I figure that if Mr Flump is not around, then I can spend some of my Disability Living Allowance on taxis!

A little update.

I managed a very short (7 mile) drive at night over the holidays.  Yes I needed to up the meds but I did it.

It was strange and I kept fixating on led rear lights and trying g to make patterns out of them.

I quickly realised that it was happening and drew back from the vehicle in front and concentrated on the road.

Did it.
