Far from it! Thought about self publishing?
I agree with Roger. It really struck a chord with me in terms of living with BI.
How about blogging?
I agree far from rubbish, unfortunately I dare say they saw it as too truthful, it certainly is, I can identify with it all. Too truthful for some maybe, the reality can be too much for some, witness the way they water down recovery from brain damage on the soaps, and how well and quickly those that do recover do so.
Brilliant Andy it is so good.
Love Janet xxx
Hi Andy, you are so talented and inspiring. I hope you can get it published to show people what it is actually like living with a brain injury. Not the textbook version.
Take care K
I thought it was brilliant when I read it a while back. You are not rubbish at writing as I suspect you were up against a huge amount of equally brilliant competition. I am sure if you keep submitting it else where and I am sure it will get published. x
Andy entries into BBC comps run into very high thousands (hundreds of) Often successful entrants will have learned the hard way (repeated rejection) how to get their work through the process.
Collecting writing rejections will help you hone your skills...you are now a member of an established club...with some esteemed members
Don't take this personally or let it stop you if you enjoy writing. If you have a story to tell. Tell it. There will be people to hear you...
Oh trust me, I know all about rejection, I've been writing for twenty years now. It's all part of the 'fun'
Phew that is a relief...
I framed my first rejection letter and my first acceptance cheque and they sat side by side viewed with equal pride...they each tell a story...albeit one with a different ending LOL
Since you are clearly not one to let the 8uggers get you down what's next on the writing horizon for you?
To be honest, I've not given it much thought. I do find it tricky to keep my attention on any projects for any length of time. I've had a couple of half finished books clogging up my laptop for some years now.
The half finished,
'An Idiot's Guide To Internet Dating'
has gained almost mythical status now
Well hurry up and publish the guide it obviously worked for you or did you meet the Baroness in the real world.
Hang on better not sound too keen on that idea my lovely lady may be looking over my shoulder.... Ooops
Ahh I know I was thinking of getting it for my son.... yes that's it for my son mmmmh.... do you think I got away with it? :-_
The Baroness was indeed an internet dweller on the dating scene, much like my good self. It was a long hard trawl (hence the book) but we got there eventually
There are still plenty of idiots out there in need of advice
I was that soldier
