Hhm interesting thanks Dave. Not surprisingly I scored 'poor' on the memory test. I liked the pic of the brain on a treadmill :)

I chew after every meal, for about 30 mins, it like brushing ur teeth after a meal or having food.

STAY AWAY FROM SNACKS!!!

It's good tasting fat, for ur body!!!

Or snack before a meal, so u set ur body in food burning mode!!!

Only thing that helps for me, is being rested.

Not unsurprisingly single digit score not even close to double digits.

But that is exactly the type of thing that I do badly and have always done so. Hence my use of serious amounts of technology!

Hi Dave thanks for posting an interesting article, maybe a bit sophisticated for ordinary people explaining neurons and axons functionality.Memory tests sometimes may give the sensation of not being so much clever to guess and remember words, numbers, shapes and so on ...some people take their results seriously and maybe feeling disappointed ,but obviously it was the way for let people know what a cognitive psychologist or a neuro psychotherapist may do for checking cognitive level and deterioration of it.I think that diet and exercise are important, but I think being involved socially is important as well...living in isolation for example can lead toward depression...staying days or maybe months without talking to anybody. Why in countries where people are more involved socially, where there is more time for talking to your neighbour or a friend, they have less case of dementia or memory loss? Our brain need exercise as well and is not just physical exercise , but intellectual exercise...reading, singing, social interaction...even going to a local shop and saying: Good morning...how are you? It`s a lovely day... and then be engaged in conversation...your neurons will get more energy to spring electric and chemical substances between them and life and memory can get the beneficial effects.I think that in newspapers, media ,Tv too much emphasis is posed on physical and biological functioning when talking about memory and illness...but the food the brain receive doesn`t come just from the food we ate everyday, but from our daily experiences. If you go to a leisure centre , doing your regular exercise, eating properly...but there is a lack of social interactions what`s the point on proposing something that is incomplete for the person`s wellbeing?I work with elderly people some affected by Dementia...the main focus of our role is...engaging in conversation...so draw your conclusion then...take care Dave ...thanks for sharing

Dave, I love science and research and especially things related to Neuroscience,so if you`ve other articles to suggest, please send to this site because more we learn about the functionality of the brain, more we can deal with our problem.

Yes me to. This is what I'm dealing with en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mic...

It is horrendous to live with!

Dave I read the article on the link you`ve posted and now I have an idea about your problem. This is what I am dealing with en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aneurysm

Also I have a Pituitary Adenoma en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pitui...

The first problem has been solved in 1991,coiling the brain aneurysm

brainaneurysm.com/treatment

The second problem is under control especially hormonal changes in other parts of the body

Hi I've read what I can. It's awful but you have done so well to survive. How come you got these problems? Is it age related?

Dave ,I am not 70 years old that the year I was born,I am 44.A brain aneurysm is something already existent in the brain from the birth, only it can be found when there is a rupture in most of the cases.I still alive, doing most of the things I was doing before , only I have to do in a more calm way...I don`t have any neurological deficit that why I cannot be identified as disable person, but actually I am one of them ,but the Government said that you`ve to be in a very serious condition for getting disability income,so I decided that one day I will be back to work.I love my studies I will be graduated shortly in Psychology and I have Counselling skills as well, so I can take great care of me gaining in knowledge and understanding different daily issues and I really appreciate anything I can get from life even little things as being grateful that everyday I can see the light of the sunrise as the celebration of another day that comes in my life

Ok I understand now. If I find any useful information I will post it on the site.

Take care.

Dave

It's a badly researched article (for instance the left brain/right brain rubbish has been debunked time and time again) which talks about preventing decline. We've already suffered 'decline' by parts of our brains being destroyed. Beyond the basic advice of eat well, sleep well, exercise well, socialise well, there's nothing in here of any value.

Calamityjane It`s an article for a healthy person not from someone as a survivor of brain injury.Obviously as survivors we see life and lifestyle under another perspective, but the author was not focused on who already has a problem...it was an advise as a prevention of health issues. In any case that doesn`t mean you cannot do anything at all, but you`ve to find the way and the right people to guide you on what could be useful and enjoyable for you and I think there are initiatives and events you can join, but you`ve to get some information anyway. What do you mean:there`s nothing here of any value? It`s a scientific article based on research findings not on subjective experience.Maybe sharing our ideas in this site we can find something more interesting what do you think...could be an idea?Take care
