Been to allergy Clinic recently been told that a coconut allergy is rare Has anyone else got a Coconut allergy

I don't have but my Mum does - she is also allergic to plums.

Apparently a food allergy to coconut is less common (coconut was considered a hypoallergenic foodstuff) but allergic reactions to skin products (creams, shower gels, shampoos etc ) containing coconut are far more common.

At least once you have identified what causes the allergy you can steps to avoid it....although if you eat a lot of processed/packaged foods you will find thatcoconut oils are commonly used in a lot of products so it might involve a LOT of label reading to figure it out

Capsicum, all peppers and chillis etc. have to watch creams etc as well as crisps, sauces the usual. My daughter is the same.

Eggs, Tea and sesame too also have a reaction to some brands of chocolate

I love the smell & taste of coconuts. I also use coconut oil to cook wt, because it is a healthy kind of fat. I would really hate it, if I became allergic to them.
