I saw you no you didn't
If this is something new/unusual for you then I suspect that feels quite scary... it might be worth mentioning to your doc at your next visit if it is worrying.
I have no short term memory so what you describe is common place for me... At first I used to find it worrying, then later somewhat miraculous and later still amusing that the fridge somehow filled itself .... putting on new clothes that I had no recollection of buying was quite something and felt really weird ... but eventually I got used to the strangeness of it all and after a quick whose clothes are these? Where did this stuff come from? question I am now able to simple accept the answers given and not worry about it...
Holiday photos are a real blast... It always feels like I was photoshopped into a travel pic
Oh, yes indeedy!
Not quite in iforget's league, but I am more than familiar with the experience. Most of the time, I just grin or shrug, but occasionally the realisation can lead to a mini shock or feeling of bemused/painful puzzlement that burns the fact into your memory. For example, seeing your signature on a lengthy report that you've written and having no recollection whatsoever of writing it, even though it has yesterday's date on it. Or "waking up" in your car and having no idea what you've been doing for the past hour or where you're going or why you're going there. Finding stuff I don't remember buying is so commonplace I scarcely take notice of it .. My wife still gets irritated when I buy a second copy of a book or magazine, though, especially when I deny having bought or read the first one!
The flip side of the coin, and of greater negative effect, is remembering having done something when I haven't because what I recall is having thought about doing it rather than doing it ... I can't distinguish between the two as most of my memories are vague snapshots, with little "narrative" rather than continuous streams.
Oh, and then there's the " jamais vu" moments, which are more than just forgetting and normal denial. These are moments of strong, angry, shocked denial that something has ever been there, even though it should be really familiar. For example, a table in a room that you've seen everyday for years or something on a checklist that you've inspected more times than you've had hot breakfasts. The feeling differs from normal forgetfulness in the same way that suddenly seeing a large frog sitting on your cornflakes differs from noting that you've already poured the milk.
In general, I don't worry about forgetting things as such, sometimes I get particularly annoyed with it, sometimes it happens more frequently, but I suppose I've got used to it .. sort of. However, if you get any jamais vu moments you should probably get them checked out as they could be a sign of something else, such as epilepsy.
