Fell today as I didn't see the edge of a path.

Another fall curtisey of no peripheral vision so sporting a few cuts, bumps, bruises onto of the usual. Hit my chin, broke my nose, fractured hand, whiplash but great news though... I didn't fall off my push bike... πŸ˜‰πŸ™‚ the above happened as I 'walked' within my crutch support. At least it was a beautiful sunny day, now to ease the whiplash, persistent head pain. Please know I pray constantly for everyone affected by TBIs. You are never alone xxx

Oh I'm so sorry Sharon ; not what you need on top of brain injury ! These type of accidents are so common for me since my Bi .......(for me it's thanks to poor balance and lack of concentration).

Hope everything heals well and you'll find the best meds for the aches and pains. Take care m'dear....

Love & hugs... Cat x

So sorry, this is nor what you need with BI. My husband has peripheral vision but not good with lower vision and balance, so it always worries me about him falling. Hope the hospital gave you a good check over. Rest and recuperate now. Big hug, Tina

Thank you xx no hospital as I just needed to be home and yes, a great rest snuggled up to by my 'baby' (cat) she always knows just what to give πŸ˜‰πŸ™‚... bless you for a wonderful caring heart xx Yes, I understand re the constant concerns about falling. Usually for me it was always at home and with my family about re helping. But my memory of yesterday is positive because it truly was an absolutely beautiful sunny day. Always know you are both in my heart, thoughts and prayers xx

Sorry to hear of your fall. No peripheral vision? Scan by turning your head back and forth so that you'll see everything with your main vision.

Hiya, hope ur feeling a little better now. I've been working on my balance and use a balance board and have found it has helped massively, I couldnt step backwards without staggering and often falling as after my stroke I no longer seemed to pick up the cues to try and correct myself. The one I use is on the edge of being downright dangerous but I'm trying to surf again so am really pushing myself to be back to beyond normal. However there are types with kinda a fixed ball underneath rather than a roller that might be better suited to helping gain core strength in the small muscles that you never realise you constantly use when walking around. Make sure that you have something to support you when/if you begin as it will challenge your balance.

Sounds like a good idea. I've been waiting for the physios to see my husband, but he's been out of hospital nearly 3 months and we're still trying to do it alone. X

It's worth every penny to pay for a few sessions. You then can continue them until the NHS ones start.I did that to get walking.

Hi Sharon,

Ouchie! so sorry this hapoened. Not what you need at all.

I use a 4 wheeled walker - you may call it something different in the UK.

It's like having a sort of seeing eye dog - it warns you if the ground changes and gives you something to hold onto and a place to sit when you need it.

Yes, I know, pride gets in the way.

I have gotten very fond of mine. It has saved my bacon a few times,

Best for your recovery,

Leaf
