Hi everyone... Just to post a little update.. the results of my neuropsych eval will come in on March 12! All I know is that the feedback session will be two hours long and the doctor told me to bring my mom along. I'm hoping for some real answers and direction!

Is this the appointment to get results of the testing you have already undertaken? I really hope you get some positive/useful information.

I would suggest asking them to please provide a written copy so you can refer to it later when what they said is all a bit of a mystery. Even with your Mom there it is likely there will be a lot of information to take on board and there will be things that both of you will have forgotten by the time you get home.

I hope you will let us know how you get on

That's good at least you will have more of an understanding of how things work for you.

My daughter had one done several years ago.

I think she had 3 x 2hour sessions.

We were told that generally they are for an hour but as we were travelling quite a way to get to the hospital she was offered the 2 hour sessions with any breaks she needed in between.

Initially we went in with her for the interviewf her background.

The weeks after she went through various tests of puzzle solving etc. We received the completed report via post.

One thing amongst many others picked up was that she needed a visual field test, which she has had, this proved that she is actually visually impaired.

It also showed she has a slowing of her thought process which has made a big difference to us being able to understand her more and her problems, how she couldn't concentrate for long periods, also that she struggled to make sense of written sentences at times etc etc

I took a copy of the ass. to her GP for it to be scanned onto her records as only daughter and neuro were sent one.

I also gave part of it which was relevant to her care agency manager to help them also understand what problems she was experiencing.

Hope things go well for for xx

Headchild, thanks for sharing your experience. I'm kind of aiming for the same thing with my family- I want tgem to be able to understand me more because right now they haven't the slightest clue. Thanks for the well wishes :)

Hi Negeen,

1.......I replied to your message, but I'm not sure if I've done it correctly. Please let me know if you have received it please.

2.......When I had my neuro psych eval it gave us ( me and hubby) a lot of answers to things we already knew. There was also a lot of other stuff (approx 20 page eval) about my condition and how my brain injuries effected my overall abilities. We were glad to finally here this evaluation and put names and reasons to my condition. We now live life with understanding, a good sense of perspective about what the brain injury has done and overall happiness to have been given a second chance.

I send you and your mum virtual good luck wishes when you get your eval report. I hope it gives you understanding, peace of mind and heart and positive thoughts to move on in life in a different way to the one you expected. Take care

Hey Leslie,

1) I never recieved your response message- please try re-sending it.

2) i have a feeling it will do the exact same for me- give me answers I already know. But it will still mean so much to have a better picture from a professional someone outside myself. Thanks for the virtual good luck leslie, we definitely need it!!

I agree the ass. puts into words what others can see in a person but not quite put into words expressively. Certainly with my daughter it brought a greater understanding and patience plus I had proof that what I was noticing was right and not just me thinking it.
