Hi Was anyone else belittled as a child following their TBI
Hi, no not directly but only because I was able to stop it happening. I was lucky enough to still retain a lot of my cognitive functions so when, doctors, nurses etc would talk down to me I was able to remind them that I was an intelligent adult, otherwise I think I might have been on the receiving end of treatment you describe, but not the family, they wouldn't. Sorry it's happened to you, hopefully you can move on from it xxxx Janet
I had a few people try but I just gave the the two word speech, last word is 'off.' No time for that sort of thing to be honest.
The factors that cause people to belittle people who have had a head injury- fear ignorance etc- are almost certainly the reason why GPs have little or no understanding of 'Mild' TBI ie you are just reacting emotionally to the assaualt/accident...... No I am experiencing emotions, rage etc , that i have never experienced before because my brain has been jumbled
