I Dont normally post my own thoughts on here BUT last night was a very emotional night for me , This time last year Our good friends gathered together for a club meeting (T.R.F. ) and had Lots of selected GNAA items like Christmas cards , Diary s key rings Bears etc , and Sold everything and also took extra donations on the night .

Its been a very hard year for everyone concerned with this dreadfull R.T.A. , but with out the attendance of the GNAA things would have been so very different for 2 very Special people today.

Last night was a year to the night since that meeting and seeing everyones passion and generosity towards this very good cause /charity had me close to tears as the same Enthusiasm was repeated again .

My feelings will never change i will never be able to thank them for what they did on that day , and continue to do each and every day for others in all walks of life . With this in mind i will conintue to spread the word and Raise funds for this very good cause .

Life has changed so much in a year and my feeling run high to the reasons why these Guys were needed so Angry at the reason why this RTA happened .

I would like to past on my thoughts to everyone who has been toucthed by these events , Thinking about you all always . . . Take care always here .

Hi vimto,

Air ambulances do amazing work across the country saving the lives of major trauma patients, and as you know they usually don't receive any public funds.

Thank you for raising this, and telling us about your work to support them.

Best wishes,

Headway

Hi vimto I really can't get my head around what I've just read. So the Air Ambulance Services are not government funded ?

I've obviously been living in la la land.

Yes they are totally on there own , We ( me, J , and the TRF ) have been raising money all year for them , in lots of different ways . I work close with them and they would nt let the government get hold of this true 4 th 999 service , because they would never have a say again . Life savers in my book .

Me too, I assumed they were government run, I have nothing but the highest respect for them and the people who raise funds for them.

Yes, me too. And my ignorance astonishes me.........my mother-in-law makes regular donations to the RNLI which I assumed helped towards topping up running costs............then I find that they also are totally dependant on donations ..........as are hospices and heaven knows what else.

They're all absolute heroes so far as I'm concerned but what a peculiar society we live in where such life-saving and often hazardous services are consigned to the bottom of the economic pile. But then of course doing good deeds doesn't generate wealth does it.

Well done vimto for your part in such a wonderful cause. :-) x

We had an air ambulance at the airport I worked at. It was on tv for a series on emergencies. Tha was after my accident tho! We used to do lots of fundraising for our air ambulance too. They were all working on their days off, for free. I am very great full for their skills. Even tho It meant the airport was open 24hrs a day 365 days. Well worth it.
