Night terrors

I suffer night terrors. Now ive had them a few yrs and dont think its related to my brain injury.

Over my recovery i had lots of put downs and think this is a way to release my anxiety.

Does anyone know of any psychotherapy etc?

Ill NOT take medication cos ive come this far without any.

Its like im possessed. Call the exorcist!

What medication are you on....since my operation and endocrine failure sleep has been a stranger to me, and when I do sleep the dreams range from frightening to bizarre, speaking to my consultant she said this was a side effect of the medication

Persist ! my OH has just got refered by his neurologist . on the night terror business I have had them since being a teenager-horrible wakes me up screaming, sweating (quite frightening for anyone next to me). Did you have them prior to the TBI?

I never had them prior to my TBI but i never had them after it till i started getting ppl poking fun at me.

In a way it was the TBI which caused it.

Ive been to a sleep clinic too.

Hopefully the endocrinologist will have an answer

I don't have night terror but do have a lot of nightmares about getting raped. If you find something that helps would love to know.

Whenever they refuse, ask them to justify themselves, in writing if possible. If they can't, report them to the GMC.

Not sure if you want to research furthur/ask Dr. Here is a natural support idea, taking a small evening dose less than 50 mg of 5-htp has been researched to reduce nightmares.

(5-htp or L-5-Hydroxytryptophan is extracted from Griffonia simplicifolia seeds)

Night terrors ARE NOT the same as nightmares but thankyou for the advice

I personally refer to them nightmares, but they were "different" due to brain trauma. So, guess it depends what the Dr or neuro assesses them as also.

I hope you find relief some day soon as they are set back in your recovery right now.

Nightmares only occur in REM sleep. Night terrors occur in deeper sleep
