Hi everyone, I have recently had a blood test as my ibs and diverticular are playing up more than usual. My bloods came back as follows:

B12: 194

Folate: 1.7

Ferratin: 325

My gp has reordered a blood test but hasn't said anything else or given advice, just my iron is high. I tire easily and often forget what I'm saying, can't remember what I was going to do and struggle to find the right words. I can sometimes be doing something and the tiredness becomes overwhelming that I need to sleep for about 30mins -1hr and I wake up fine. My thumbs are painful and it sometimes affects my hands and I get pain running down my legs that feels like period pains. I know your not doctors but I'm at a loss as to what it can be and wondered if any of you had similar symptoms.

Hi chubbylover78,

I'm so glad to hear that I'm not alone wondering the same thigs...

I had 2 blood tests already and both came back with higher iron level, I'm due another one to confirm it.

But my GP, similar to yours, didn't say anything except that it looks that I may have haemochromatosis, so I'm feeling left on my own in the past 2 months, now knowing what will happen next....

My symptoms are very similar to yours with being extremely tired, forgetting simple things, I have awful daily pain in my legs and it does feel like during period abdominal cramps and joint pains. On top of that in the past few days I'm having stomach pains that are higher up, just under my bra and my belly is so swollen and tender.

Thank you for replying, I know GPs don't tend to say anything without being absolutely sure but not to mention anything is even worse. I know dr google is the worst place to look but at least it gives an idea of any possibilities and what I might expect the outcome to be.

You're right, it's very important that the gp is sure before making diagnosis, but sometimes it would be beneficial to know what if etc :(

This is probably why we use google, even if we know that it's not the best place to look at medical things, but at least it gives us some ideas about symptoms and possible treatment.

Hi, no diagnosis of anything yet, need more blood tests as my inflammation markers are elevated, feeling worse as the weeks go by but go doesn't seem bothered.

Raised inflammatory markets van spuriously raise ferritin level.

Good luck with GP And next tests.
