Does anyone know or feel that the GF products give you constipation because of the complex recipes or is it just me. I'm not full coeliac but thyroid, DH based person with some CD symptoms. I had tests but don't eat processed foods as a rule. only 1 slice of bread daily and biscuits.
any help would be good
thanks.

Not sure if you are new to GFREE Diet but I know when I first started I was bunged up. After a while things went back to normal. I did start off with no Bread at all for the first 4 months then I decided to get a prescription and started to try different breads. Everything seems to be OK now but I do eat plenty of fruit.
The symptoms of Coeliac vary considerably between individuals...even between siblings. So there is no one set of whats usual and normal (someone explain normal to me, please).
Its more of what is normal ..for you.
What I would always suggest..as Ian has done..is to increase your fruit & veggies...and lots of water.
Anniet it's important for coeliacs to drink lots of water and eat lots of fruit and veg as we don't get as much fibre from our gluten free diets as we would have done from grains before.
Are you eating gluten free oats? Many coeliacs find they cannot tolerate these as the protein avenin is very similar to gluten in other grains and this can cause problems. Likewise many coeliacs find they cannot tolerate codex wheat starch (which is classified as being gluten free). This may cause wind, constipation in some coeliacs.
I can eat bread, but I feel better when I'm eating predominantly fruits and veggies, some meat, and I try to drink half of my body weight in water. And avoid or eat small amts of processed foods. I hope this helps. Everyone is different and respond differently to foods soot helps to experiment with what makes you feel the best. Before I starting eating gluten free, I craved carbs, now I eat them occasionally.
