I Have had celiac for 20 years. I don't know if others have joint pain

i have chronic tennis elbow.. won't go away.. My big toe hurts off and on with its joint. and now i have knee pain from spinning today.. It seems that i am getting more lingering joint pain then ever before.. Is this part of celiac or getting old..lol. I have been active all my life but it seems that last five years my joint pains are getting worse and not healing. Has anyone else had experience with these symptoms. I rest my joints they remain chronic but get acute episodes..

I was dx in 2020, so a relatively 'newby'. I get joint pain now and again, and I've wondered if its just age....I'm 63. Yours sounds really painful. I think I'd go and see your GP if I were you, even if they just do bloods to rule things out. We get one autoimmune problem and we are more prone to getting others.....at any time.

I hope that you get it sorted out soon.

If I accidentally get glutened (or eat a so-called gluten-free product) I get joint inflammantion. A number of my joints have osteoarthritis now. In UK (not sure where you are based) our idiotic NICE guidelines do not recognise or acknowledge joint issues as part of coeliac reaction, so GPs and consultants just over-look it. Other countries do acknowledge joint pain and arthritis as issue/risk with coeliac. It's a combination of the constant inflammation and the resultant nutritional deprivation. Our bodies attacked themselves with coeliac, so joints get attack. It's top to toe.In my personal experience, GPs and consultants are the most pointless people for anything joint related, so better to do your own research on exercise and supplements. Sugar and carbs are not good for joint inflammation. Cod liver oil is hit and miss. It's a diet and lifestyle overhaul before the damage runs away with itself. Building muscle to support the joints is required as well.

Try an anti-inflammatory diet. I’m not coeliac I don’t think, but get joint pain with gluten. I also don’t eat sugar or dairy. Certain foods/drinks are inflammatory - avoid, others neutral or anti-inflammatory - eat. Works for me, but it’s very easy to slip up if you eat out, which is why I don’t very often.

I get the same issues, I did an intolerance test which (whilst the science can be argued perhaps) I cut out all the red flags, it improved things immensely. I did notice protein bars seem to set my big toe off enormously, so have omitted those which has helped.

Not much but may help.
