Gluten Free Tiger Loaf

Hi folks,

Just wanted to let you all know that I bought the most amazing gluten free tiger loaf at the weekend.

I love bread and although some are okay they just never really satisfy me until I found this :-)

Don't get me wrong it was very pricey as cost £3.40 but as it's a bloomer loaf I could cut the slices to whatever size I wanted and it's nice as it is with a piece but when you toast it this is when the party starts to happen lol.

Just wanted to share my experience with this incase anyone hasn't come across this as of yet.

Try their sourdough too. I like that one better when I'm in need of a "doorstep" sandwich.

Water, Tapioca Starch, Potato Starch, Maize Starch, Yeast, Rapeseed Oil, Rice Flour Topping (Rice Flour, Sugar, Potato Starch, Flavouring), Pea Protein, Egg White Powder, Stabiliser: E464; Sugar, Vegetable Fibre (Psyllium), Fruit Extract (Carob and Apple), Salt, Humectant: Vegetable Glycerine; Rice Flour, Preservative: Calcium Propionate (added to inhibit mould growth); Natural Flavouring.

E464 is plant cellulose and an egg replacer.

What does that mean? I've been fine since eating it no flare ups

in reply to aidyfrew

Hey I’m sorry I worried you it is a vegan/gluten free egg replacer, you don’t have a formaldehyde allergy like pretender.

Also a hospital job for me, urticaria, angiodema, tachycardic, bp 2017/107. E464 is also known as ‘ hydroxypropylmethylcellulose’ in Cooking, ‘hypromellose’ in medications, it’s the coating, it also has leachable formaldehyde as a property. I have a confirmed formaldehyde allergy ( St Thomas’ ) and must avoid Formaldehyde Releasers.

45 A & E visits with blue lights since September 2014, it’s also in coloured paints.

The symptoms are described as Anaphylaxis but I fail with an increased tryptase level. Treatment is 200mg hydrocortisone, 10 mg chlorphenamine both IV and observation in case of a secondary reaction...nice way for a night out.

And we simple coeliacs think we have it bad.

Sounds terrible :-(

Thanks aidyfrew, definitely not for me, E464 is Cellulose, a formaldehyde releaser.

I agree! It's absolutely the best GF bread I've had, including homemade and those from independent producers. If you slice and freeze it when fresh, it does very well. However, I usually pig the whole lot in three days! (bread with everything)

Thats what I did haha scoffed the lot in 3 days 😂😂🙈

Warburton's is our favourite too. The most like bread (everything else is too sweet). It's definitely an occassional treat price though, I think we'd go bankrupt buying it weekly!

Have to agree. Why is GF bread so sweet? Almost bought a Schar loaf last week, which looked nice. The principle ingredient is 'gluten free wheat starch'. That is a big no no for me. I might give the Warbies loaf a try.
