Hi I am fairly new to this website and I have recently undergone bunion surgery and had to take Cocodomol pain killers which have a coating with maize starch in ithem.
Have not coped well had a lot of bloating and even found it difficult to get my breath. I believe I am wheat intolerant and follow such diet.
Can anyone shed any light of this sort of situation?

Hi snappy, codeine is an opioid so often causes constipation which might feel like bloating, my concern is you feeling short of breath as asthma sufferers and those with COPD should not take it. So I would see your Dr if your med is causing shortage of breath.
Here's a link about codeine its side effects and warnings etc:
Find an alternative because aspartame can have those effects on people, wheat can give constipation or diarrhoea dependent on the person. Shortness of breath should be investigated for possibility of cardiac or respiratory conditions. Liase with your pharmacist who can find an alternative they are handy to have a good rapport with.
