Hi CorsaUMM If you are using Juvela bread could it be the codex wheat starch ingredient that is making you ill? As far as I am aware all of the Juvela bread has this in it.

With regards to the beans I get Branston beans which are on offer at Lidl at the moment, i eat them all the time, I am sensitive and dont have any issues.

Hope this helps

Had it on prescription so didn't question it, will contact Coeliac Uk. Had an afterthought Late Tuesday afternoon went to funeral wake at pub. I asked about gluten , however think waitress was getting mixed up with Vegan and dairy a guest had requested. I had pizza which she said was GF , I was a bit dubious . Not sure know. Perhaps I reacted much later than I normally do. Today being Thursday. I will follow my own instincts in future. Thanks for your reply. Very kind of you.

It can take 12 hrs plus for me to react, so it might well be the not so gluten free pizza. Plus if they really didn't understand gluten free it could have been cross contaminated, maybe had some ordinary flour sprinkled on it.

Or you perhaps just don't do well with beans. Many folk don't!

Ready made gluten free bread can be a problem for many people. Apart from Codex wheat, it could be the stabilisers/additives used in the bread: guar gum, xanthan gum or Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose.

Beans can cause problems with fermentation so worth monitoring yourself. Not sure Branston are gluten free but Heinz definitely are (so within 20 ppm).

If you were a mess at diagnosis then maybe a wheat starch bread isn't the best one for you (although it is gluten free).

Eating food prepared by people who don't understand gluten free is going to be Russian Roulette and in my book not worth it. I've taken my own food to funerals, nobody blinks. I'd bet this was the source of your problem.

Jacks... Thanks so much. I cannot believe I was stupid as to eat portion of pizza. I am not very trusting as a rule. Puzzled about Juvela bread it is White, Doc and I thought it would suit me better because to much fibrous food and seeds can sometimes upset my diverticula ....
