Sore slightly red eye lids - Cosopt

Hello all,

I currently have COVID and it’s not very nice!

I have noticed over the last couple of days that my eye lids are a little, red, sore and a tiny bit puffy could just be the redness though. I am currently only on Cosopt twice a day and have been for a few months. This is the first time my eyes have felt like this though. Does anyone have any recommendations could compress, eye pillow, ointment etc….

Many thanks

Katy

Hycosan extra eye drops are soothing also an eye mask that you can microwave or freeze. Hope you feel better soon. I caught Covid for first time in May and it was terrible.

Yes Hycosan is good. My consultant recommends Theoloz Duo for dry eye. I get red puffy eyelids and use Liz Earle's Eye Tonic which is cooling - I use it as a cold compress on cotton cosmetic pads (usually used for makeup removal) and also just soak pads in very cold water and leave on lids for a few minutes. Thin cucumber slices are good too!

Thank you I will try the more natural options first.

Do you boil the water first and let it cool or just straight cold water?

Thank you

Poor you -life a bugger these days flippin covid!! Why not try a warming eye mask -Im finding mine useful-very gently massage eyelids after using, then wipe over with wet cotton wool pad and then if you have a tiny bit of vaseline to smear over lids. If you dont have a mask use a wrung out towel or facecloth. You could also try cold mask or cold wrung out facecloth etc to see which suits best. warm one is very relaxing. wishing you well!!!

Hi, I like to use a warm compress too, but what does the vaseline do?

It’s my 2nd time with COVID and much worse this time. Thank you for your reply. Does the Vaseline help? I’ll be worried about getting it in my eyes!,

I had read somewhere in this forum about somebody using Castor oil. I would not be able to use that or Vaseline without risking it getting into the eyes. Though it makes sense as moisturizers.

the vaseline soothes and keeps eyelids moist .if you just put a very light touch on your finger it wont get in eye -i just use a very tiny bit.Read bout it online & it does seem to help.

2 years ago my mom began to use Cosopt, and had the same symptoms with her lids after one month, and she also had vivid hallucinations: She was often seeing a few gathered children around her, she knew they were just pictures and not real ones. She was aware those were hallucinations. We wiped her eye lids with dark tea infusion, using cotton cosmetic pads, 2-3 times a day. The redness disappeared, but the vision of gathered children continued.

The eye doctor had to stop Cosopt, and prescribed 2 other separate drops: Timolol in the morning and Lumigan before bedtime. Everything is OK now. Sometimes she has dry eyes, then we use hydrasense drops as lubricants.
