Good morning,

I am suffering from bad lower backache, I wanted to check if I am ok to take Ibuporfen whilst taking Cosopt eye drops twice a day. I have looked online etc but cannot find anything. I have taken Paracetamol but it’s just not shifting.

Many thanks

Hello. Yes, it is fine to take Ibuprofen when on Cosopt drops. Remember to take the Ibuprofen with or just after food, to help protect your stomach. I hope this helps to relieve your back pain.

Hi there I use eye drops and also have AMD. I have had bad back pain and a fractured rib since an RTA 10 weeks ago. Was taking Ibuprofen and using Volterol. It helped a bit. However I noticed my urine was pink and still in pain. I went to A & E who did tests and said I had irritated kidneys due to ibuprofen. I was taken off them completely and given cocodamol (which i hate). My eyes are ok though. Just use ibuprofen with caution and for a short time. I hope your back resolves itself soon. Good luck.

Hi I have been taking a multi of painkillers for about 4 years now all on prescription from my local GP and my pressures have been ok through whilst waiting for my back operation which was done last year and I am still taking them due to midfoot arthritis, best off to check with your GP and they can recommend the right ones for your type of gluacoma there are some which say don't take with certain gluacoma, mine are ok to take with mine, I did try Ibuprofen but they made me ill.

There are no listed interactions in the British National Formulary (prescribing guide for doctors) between ibuprofen and the active agents in Cosopt which are timolol and dorzolomide. Ibuprofen is an extremely useful painkiller in back pain. Its main warnings are with allergies to any of the other anti-inflammatory non-steroidal drugs, stomach or duodenal ulcers, ischaemic heart disease like heart attacks, angina, heart failure, strokes, and kidney impairment. They come with a good leaflet in the packet

Hello, I have acute glaucoma, taking pregabalin for neuropathy using Ibuprofen gel three times daily on my feet and legs. 6 monthly eye pressure check-ups have shown eye pressurers of acceplable level, it is a question of tryiny to live with the pain to try to preserve my eye sight. If anyone has any advice I would be glad to hear from them.
