I've been directed to use Monopost drops daily but only get given a prescription for 4 weeks supply of drops at a time. I'm puzzled why I'm not being given for example, 3 months supply at time. I'll ask the doctor about this, but is this usual practice? How much supply do you get given each time?

It's normal practice. Doctors are cutting down on wastage and thus expense.
I get 2 months but I've been using it for years.
I only get four weeks, I think the doctors surgery get paid per prescription they issue… so it’s not in their interests to give you more than four weeks at a time.
I requested my GP surgery to change from four weeks to eight weeks. Done straight away, no problem.

4 weeks. That is standard NHS guidance to avoid waste. The NHS found that people were hoarding and wasting supplies and also losing track of what they had. If you’re going on holiday, you usually have to write a note, explaining why you require more. I actually find the 4 week thing inconvenient. I’d rather it be a calendar month.
Sorry whar waste with 4 weeks- we do it for life, I get 4 weeks and problems with nhs app so off to the chemist, what a waste of time with 1 month only
In my social work days I would visit homes where people hoarded unused medications.
For those that use them reliably, asking for more should not present a problem -and should be trackable from patient records. But I assure you, I’ve met people who’ve been able to acquire more than they need; people who’ve shared medication with others; and people who’ve ordered an item for themselves to save a family member paying (items like inhalers and anti histamines). I appreciate there’s a difference between drops and tablets, so possibly less risk of wastage.
Yes, it should not be possible, but it is, so tighter management was brought in to protect patients and ensure medication wasn’t wasted.
I get two months. Although many have said that it’s standard to only get four weeks, you’ve nothing to lose by asking your GP if they will give you two months.
Hi, There is a very short supply of eye drops at the moment we are all struggling to get some, So maybe the reason you have been given 4 weeks because that is all they have at the moment. It is a worldwide problem unfortunately. I have been waiting 6 weeks for mine.
To report back: I asked my GP if I could have 2 months at a time, and they said yes. So worth asking your GP if you have the same problem.
