Hi, does anybody have a problem with Dorzolamide drops. I have had a pain over my left eye, blocked nose and mucus in throat since I have been on these since January. I have tried everything, my GP is treating me for sinus problems although I have never suffered them before the drops. I am taking antibiotics and nasal spray but it doesn’t seem to be making much difference. It seems coincidental as it started since taking the dorzolomide drops and I only have to put them in my left eye.

Dorzolamide preservative free drops
In a word yes.... had to be taken off anything that contained dorzolamide (tried variants neat or containing preservative-free) as evidently root cause of a myriad of issues; aches in eye socket, open cracks on eyelids, swollen lids, crusting, red eyes etc etc. The stuff gets in your nasal cavity afterwards however much you close off the tear duct when applying.
Evidently bad news for some.... latest combination to remove dorzolamide in any form whatsoever is a combination of tiopex (preserv free timolol) and saflutan (preserv free tafluprost) which so far are working well and have removed all of the above issues; logically dorzolamide was the cause. As a bonus, I no longer look as though I've been in a fight, and I can wear contact lenses again as too painful previously.
Incidentally, I write as someone who's never had any of the above symptoms previously, despite wearing gas permeable lenses for decades, inadvertently stuck who knows what in the eyes by mistake having dropped and reinserted lenses, never had problems from frequent immersion windsurfing around our sewage shores, had severe hayfever etc etc so my eyes were in good shape before dorzolamide came along.
hi, thank you so much for your reply, this has confirmed my suspicions that the Dorzolomide is the cause of my problems, I haven’t got to see my consultant until the end of the month but when I do I will certainly ask to be changed to something else. Until then I suppose I will have to suffer the effects of the drops as I’m scared to not take them in case my eye pressure goes up. You have made me feel better though as my mind was working overtime as to what else it could be, was even thinking about booking a private CT scan.

I searched at the "How to use Dorzolamide", in Pharmasave.com, where it's mentioned to be used 3 or 2 times a day. Using it so many times a day would possibly affect the cavity of the nose, creating dryness, which will result in different problems in the nose area, including accumulation of germs, that would affect the normal functioning of the nose (depending on the individual structure of the nose too). As for me, I was prescribed Duotrav, three years ago, using it just once a day. It's a mixture of Travoprost - timolol, for open-angle glaucoma.
