SLT Failed

The SLT’s I had 8 weeks ago failed to provide any drop in IOP for either eye. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. But I am glad I tried.

After suffering through red, sore, weepy eyes for 8 months, I finally said no more! I was ready for aibCanaloplasty or some other MIGS.

My Doc convinced me to try one more drop before surgery. This will be eyedrop type number five! It is Cosopt PF. I am hopeful because I have heard good results from some on this forum. I will know if it works in 5 weeks.

Please do not hesitate to try SLT. It works for most folks. The chances are much better on virgin eyes that have never had glaucoma drops. I will alert new folks to this forum who have not yet started drops to try this first.

Hi there Floaters. I too have had a lot of trouble with intolerance of eye drops. I am now drop free and after multiple surgeries things are finally stable. I found canaloplasty worked really well for me. I think my surgeon was quite surprised at how well! Anyway, I wish you well and that the Cosopt works for you.

Hi Floaters, I'm sorry to read that the SLT didn't work. I'm a few years down the line with glaucoma and wish I'd had it at the start because it seems the way forward as a starting point. My consultant doesn't think at this point SLT would help lower my pressures, but then I've had a trabeculectomy, which is a whole other ball game. Do hope Cosopt does the trick for you!

Hi Floaters, I’m sorry SLT didn’t work for you. I’ve heard the same as you, that the procedure works better on the newly diagnosed who haven’t been taking drops for ages, which is luckily what happened in my case. SLT is now recommended as the first line of treatment so hopefully more people will be offered it early.

I wish you luck with the new drops and really hope they work for you.
