My glaucoma prescription is 1 drop each eye 2 times a day of Simbrinza.
My question is how many days should a bottle last ? My prescription is for a 5ml bottle but that doesn't seem to last more than 20 days.

Most bottles hold drops to cover 28 days. This is based on one drop each time you put one in, but we know that isnt always possible, and more drops can come out depending on how much you squeeze the bottle. If you feel as though you do not have enough drops to cover you for the 28 days, speak to your GP to see if they can prescribe you 2 bottles rather than one to cover any shortfall.
No more than a month...or it goes off and your will be reminded of the date as you start to get red eye! Supposed to last a month.
Hi! I wasn’t going to post today as I feel I’m “over sharing” with too much posting! 😂 However I had to reply as this happened to me and it is really important to check you have been prescribed the right amount of drops, as it does happen, as once I wasn’t and I kept running out. I was told the bottle had enough. It didn’t. I found this info at another NHS tryst.
Here’s a link to an NHS trust where they wotjed out correct supply for each dosage.

I’ll just pull out the bit for you which is dosing both eyes twice a day then you need minimum of 6ml. Check your bottle. DONT mistake the mg that’s just the amount of medicine in the suspension. You need the ml amount on the bottle.
I was prescribed a 5 ml bottle to drop twice a day in both eyes so essentially 4 drops a day. I kept running out. Told dr/chemist and sent the document and now they let me have 2 bottles at a time now so when I run out I don’t have a gap.
So do check your bottle ml amount.👍🏻
Oh just seen you’ve got a 5ml bottle then you need to go back to your prescribing chemist or dr and tell them you’re not getting enough.
As a guide you get 20 drops per 1ml of eye drop. So if you get 5ml then you are getting 5x20=100 drops. However you are dosing both eyes twice a day so that’s 4 drops a day. You need: 4 x28 = 112 drops. Currently you are 12 drops (or 3 days worth) short. And that’s not counting any additional mis directed drops you lost!
I wonder how many patients are thinking they are poor applicators of their drops because they run out a few days early but actually have been given too few drops? 🙄
Hope this helps you! 👍🏻
I know how you feel often wondered myself so a great question, I find mine sometimes don't last 28 days too, I used to use Simbrinza until both of my pharmacist couldn't get it anymore so now I used Brimonodine and Brinzolomide which are in Simbrinza separately, I think it's all down to the makes of the bottles some have very large drops on them sometimes small and narrow, I find some makes better than others and the trouble is I don't get the same makes all the time and neither does the pharmacist, they to have to order from suppliers to get what they want, which means you get different bottles and makes. Best wishes.
This is an incredibly helpful thread. Thank-you. I’m also on two drops of Simbrinza twice per day but I have never run out in any 28 day period. If I’m understanding correctly I’m under-dosing myself!
I was concerned about the single dose plastic Ganfort applicator but it seems that’s potentially a more accurate approach!
I’m on Brinzolomide and get prescribed a 5ml bottle each time. I had to put my case forward to my GP as to why I needed a prescription more than once a month. I googled and found that a 5 ml bottle contains 100 drops so should last me 25 days but I don’t get every drop in and sometimes miss. My GP accepted my explanation and I now get a prescription every three weeks.
I had the same problem. Now I get 2 bottles per prescription order and as soon as I start the second bottle I order the next repeat prescription. Good luck.
