Dorzolamide affecting athletic performance?

hello, I started using Dorzolamide drops, 2x daily starting in March in addition to Latanaprost (since probably 10 years now). Not long after, I noticed a marked drop in athletic performance on the bicycle (via training logs)

From what I can tell this is not a usual side-effect, and my Dr. had said as such when he prescribed. I'd previously tried Timolol and it had affected my max heart rate.

So it's likely my issue is elsewhere, but I thought I would ask if anyone might have a similar experience or heard of such with Dorzolamide.

My regular Dr has ordered a blood test, so we will see if that shows anything. Thanks for any input.

Hello Derfahrer

Even though Dorzolamide isn't a beta blocker it can sometimes cause fatigue which is a common side effect. If you relate to this feeling since taking the drop it could very well be that you are experiencing one of the side effects. When you put your drops in make sure you close your eye and press on your tear duct for up to 2 minutes. You will need to do this for each eye individually. This will help in stopping the excess drop getting to the back of the throat and into the blood stream which will encourage side effects to happen.

If your blood test results come back ok you should speak to your consultant.

Thank you! That is helpful information. Blood tests just came back fine, so I will speak with my eye doctor. I have been pressing on the tear duct, but both at the same time. Will try separately.

As a medical professional, I can say that Dorzolamide eye drops are used to treat increased pressure in the eyes caused by open-angle glaucoma or a condition called eye hypertension. Both eye conditions are caused by high pressure in the eye and can lead to pressure pain in the eye and then eventually damage your vision. This medication can help you maintain your vision by reducing the pressure in your eyes and stopping the pain in your eyes.

This medication is only available on your doctor's prescription nhc.com/brand/onnit.Or take with food supplements to my meal is best.

thanks for the response, and confirmation. Since posting this, I stopped the Dorzolamide, and noticed a huge difference. Switched to Brimonidine which doesn't seem to cause any fatigue.
